Lone Star Oncology's primary concern is getting you well. In order to make your first meeting as productive as possible, all new patients should be ready to present and discuss the following:
• All medical records that apply to your diagnosis from your current primary physician, items like general medical records, pathology reports, medication lists, and medical history.
• Insurance papers. HMOs require prior authorization for subscribers to see a specialist, and it is the patient's responsibility to obtain such authorization. It is the clinic's responsibility to obtain authorization for its treatment costs, and LSO staff will assist you in communicating with your insurance company in this process. PPOs do not require prior authorization to see a specialist; however they may require authorization on treatments. LSO accepts indemnity insurance, self-insured plans, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Aspects of your life that will influence individual treatment: work, goals, diet, hobbies and interests, psychological and spiritual needs, and other diseases or conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
Take the time you need to communicate fully with LSO doctors, who will answer all your questions regarding your case. It may be helpful to write questions down in advance. During treatment, which can often last more than a year, you will be given a great deal of information and have ongoing opportunities to communicate with the entire staff. |
